Signs the house is asking for attention
The common ones are a breaker that trips repeatedly, an outlet or a whole run of outlets that stopped working, lights that flicker or dim when something else switches on, and a fixture or switch that no longer works the way it should. Sometimes you just want a fixture replaced, or a room has more things plugged in than it has outlets.
Some of these are a ten-minute device swap. Others point at something further back in the circuit. A phone description seldom separates the two, and final pricing waits until we have seen the wiring.
What the price covers and what moves it
Installing a light fixture typically runs $158 to $1,018, a range you can get from us when you call. Firm pricing follows once we have been out to the house. That gap comes from the fixture itself, how hard the spot is to reach, and what condition the existing wiring is in.
Outlet and switch work and new circuits depend on how many devices or circuits are involved, how easy the wiring is to get to, and what shape the existing wiring is in. Each written quote spells out the scope, so the price matches the work described.
Hard winters here also freeze and thaw the ground, which stresses foundations, slabs and buried pipes. When a job involves outdoor or low-mounted equipment, we plan its location with moisture in mind.

How a visit goes, start to finish
We start by looking at what you have and talking through what you want. Before touching any outlet, we turn off the matching breaker and confirm with a voltage tester or multimeter that the outlet is actually dead. A labeled breaker is a starting point, not proof, so we test every time.
Once it is safe, we inspect any exposed wiring for damage. Then we connect the hot, neutral and ground conductors to their matching terminals on the new device. Most of this is done with insulated screwdrivers and needle-nose pliers. Then we restore power and test the device.
A single device is a short visit, and bigger scopes take longer. Our quote includes the time we expect the job to take, and if what we find changes that, you hear it from us before work goes on.
Low ground and electrical equipment
Rain falling on frozen ground is one of the causes of major flooding in Pocatello, so a low-lying home needs a closer look before we place electrical equipment. The city's GIS map carries FEMA floodplain information, and we check your property on it before planning work in a flood-prone spot. The result can move where a panel, meter or outdoor equipment is placed, and you will hear about any change before work begins.

Requesting service
Contact us and tell us what is happening: which circuits or rooms are affected, what you see or hear, and what you would like done. Photos of the panel or the fixture help us arrive with the right parts. We then look at the work in person, confirm what it involves, and send a written quote that sets out what is covered.
Start to Finish
Concretely, it looks like this:
- Secure the device in its electrical box, replace the wall plate, and restore power at the breaker.
